A couple years back, Angela Ellis recorded some interviews with my best friends beloved mother and her delightful soulmate Gail. The recording was made after gay marriage was legalized and in California, and before Prop 8. Jenn’s mother and Gail had been married in Palm Springs. At least part of Angela’s intention was to make a film that told the story of their love in such a way that it might be used as indisputable evidence that gay and lesbian people deserve the right to marry. So that, when shared with a straight person they would see that this is a legitimate relationship. That this is real love, which survived through hardship, and that deserves to be recognize.
